Meru – Former Agriculture Minister Mithika Linturi has criticized the President's government William Ruto for allegedly excluding the Ameru community.
Why Mithika Linturi Is Not Happy With Ruto
On Saturday, December 21, Linturi claimed that the Ameru community has been excluded from important national political decisions despite overwhelmingly supporting the Union of Kenya First in the 2022 General Election.
Linturi complained that Ruto's government has been disrespecting the Ameru community and failing to recognize their contribution to his election victory.
“It is important that the respect of the people of Meru returns; we are tired of being looked down upon. We are tired of being looked at as if we are worthless people… our 800,000 votes must be counted! We accepted and believed; now there is a lot of contempt,” Linturi said.
Will Meru support Ruto in 2027?
The former Meru senator threatened to lead the community to reject Ruto towards the 2027 General Election.
According to Linturi, the president thinks that by getting the support of the ODM leader Raila Odingahas already secured victory in the next election.
“We will come to you, we will tell you, Meru's honor must be restored. We will work day and night to restore the glory of Meru and even if they despise us, they think we have nowhere to go… because Kitendawili has been taken, Uhuru is now with him,” he added.
Former Minister of Agriculture Linturi said the community has learned from past mistakes and will ensure its support is channeled in a more strategic way in the future to find its rightful place in the national leadership.
“From now on, we have learned from our past mistakes, and that is why we have learned that we will not repeat them again. But I want it to be known that in these days, even the mother and her respect, at least she is given respect because even the wealth you sought, you sought with her, and you cannot just chase her away like that… so even if you quarrel, you will share the wealth,” said the former Minister.
Why Kiraitu Murungi He hates Ruto
Meanwhile, former Meru governor Kiraitu Murungi asked President William Ruto to consider the people of Meru in the selection of the government.
He sees that the president has forgotten the people of Meru despite their great contribution in his votes.
Kiraitu was saddened that no one from his county was ever considered for a minor role in the last two major cabinet reshuffles.
He expressed his concern about Meru being removed from the government and other areas that did not make a significant contribution to the president.
