- Joshua Sang was angered by the Kenyan's claim that he helped fuel the 2007 post-election violence
- The fight happened when Sang was a broadcaster at Kass FM International; he appeared among the six Kenyans charged at the ICC in connection with the post-election violence
- Sang threatened to sue user X for implicating him in the 2007 conflict without testifying
Nairobi – Former Kass International FM journalist Joshua Sang' has threatened to file a case in court against a Kenyan X user who suggested that he contributed to the 2007/08 post-election violence.
Identified on the platform as Nyamisa Chelagat, the X user alleged that Sang used his platform to turn his audience against an undisclosed number of people.
After taking X user's fault, Sang informed him that he would sue in January 2025.
He warned that the matter will be an example to others who have been in the habit of associating him with the post-election unrest that resulted in more than 1,500 people being killed and more than 350,000 displaced.
“For others to learn a lesson about accusing people wrongly, this one must meet me in court in January so that he can present the evidence he claims I participated in the 2007/8 PEV,” he posted.
Sang is known to be among the six Kenyans who faced charges at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Netherlands more than a decade ago.
What was Sang's torture at ICC?
The former journalist and President William Ruto were linked to charges of crimes against humanity stemming from the 2007 post-election violence.
They were on the infamous list announced by the former ICC prosecutor, Moreno Ocampo, of those accused of planning and inciting the violence.
Others on the famous list like the Ocampo Six were former presidents Uhuru Kenyattaformer minister and MP Henry Kosgei, senior government official Francis Muthaura and former police chief Hussein Ali.
All six were later released, albeit at different times, with Ruto and Sang cleared in April 2016.
The judges who were hearing the case said there was not enough evidence to convict them.
Uhuru's charges were dismissed in December 2014.
Sang is currently the director of public relations in the office of the Head of Public Service.
The president appointed him in August 2023, months after he quit broadcasting last year, after returning to radio following his release from the ICC.
His last station was Emoo FM, owned by Mediamax and broadcasting in the Kalenjin language. His career in the media industry spanned 24 years.
