However, the Minister refused to give the exact date of the announcement of the results.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 5th Graduation of Kabete National Institute on Wednesday, December 11, Ogamba said the Kenya Examinations Council (KNEC) examiners were completing the rectification exercise.

“We should be ready to release the results in January. Right now we are going through the rectification process; it is still ongoing. As soon as they are ready, we will release them. I cannot say the exact date because the process is ongoing,” said Ogamba.

How many were involved in the KCSE 2024 exam cheating?

The theoretical and practical examinations of the four-year secondary education in Kenya were conducted in 10,755 centres.

The exam, which lasted for a month from October 22 to November 22, recorded few cases of exam cheating.

According to the Ministry of Education, only 621 candidates were found to be involved in cheating.

Subjects were found with unauthorized written documents, mobile phones, and collaborating with non-candidates to cheat in the exam.

The Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is still investigating some cases.

Why was the Nyamira man arrested and DCI?

Stephen Nyang'au Mbeche, a native of Nyamira county, was accused of creating a Telegram group called “KCSE 2024 Leakage Group,” where he distributed exam papers while abusing candidates and parents.

Images shared by the DCI showed the Telegram group had 802 members, from whom the suspect demanded an advance payment to distribute the papers.

A thorough search of his residence led to the seizure of a mobile phone and a laptop, the tools he used for his illegal activities.

In some areas, teachers were implicated in cases of helping distribute the papers.

During the exams, there was a mixture of sadness and happiness.

In some centers, the candidates gave birth before continuing with the exams, and in other cases, the candidates died due to different circumstances.
