NAKURU – Claris Mghoi has given a sad account of the events that led to her father's death.
Claris, whose father, Elijah Matoke, died after being poisoned with acid, described in detail the moment she received the call that changed her life.
The phone call that changed Claris's life
In a video on My Street, the deceased girl revealed that she was in Kericho when she received disturbing news from home.
The caller asked him to rush to the hospital in Nakuru because something bad had happened to his father.
Filled with fear and uncertainty, he hurried home, unaware of the devastation that awaited him.
“What I saw in the house made me very sad,” Claris said with tears in her eyes. “There was a burnt blanket and pieces of my father's flesh.”
Claris recounts the father's last moments
Claris recounted the last painful moments she shared with her father in the hospital.
“He called me and said, 'My daughter, take my hand and take me home.' Those were his last words,” he said.
Claris admitted that as bad as her father was, she didn't even expect to die.
Elijah Matoke, a 52-year-old resident of Nakuru, died after being attacked with acid allegedly by his wife.
How was Matoke attacked?
The terrifying incident happened when Matoke was sleeping in bed at home. Neighbors, alerted by his desperate screams, found him in a terrible condition.
Lilian Magomera, her neighbor, vividly remembered the distressing cries from the victim as she sought help.
“We heard him shouting, 'Wow, I'm dying, they've finished me,'” he said.
After rushing to the scene, he found Matoke badly burned.
Has the alleged attacker Matoke been arrested?
The police have arrested Matoke's wife and one of their sons as the main suspects of the attack.
Nakuru West Police Commander Anderson Njagi confirmed the arrest, saying that investigations are ongoing and the suspects will be charged with murder.
The sad incident caused a stir in the community of Kaptembwa and the whole country.
Many urged couples to find peaceful solutions to domestic disputes instead of violence.
