Siaya: Police in the sub-county of Bondo are investigating the death of 50-year-old trader Jemimah Randa, whose body was found on Monday night, December 16, by the side of the road in Kapiyo village, Kapiyo sub-location.
How was the late Randa found?
The deceased was found by his son a few meters from their home after returning late after closing his shop.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, the Deputy Chief of the area, Denis Ojwang', confirmed the incident, saying that the woman was strangled and robbed of her property, including the day's earnings.
“The woman had closed her shop as usual but had not arrived home by four o'clock at night. That's when her son decided to go look for her and luck he found his body thrown on the road,” said Ojwang'.
The leader also warned business owners in the area to stop staying out late during this festive season due to increasing cases of insecurity.
“I would like to appeal to all traders to close their shops early and avoid walking alone at night, especially now that incidents of insecurity are increasing,” he added.
Ojwang' also appealed to the public to be calm and allow the police to conduct their investigation.
“We know that the public is worried, but I urge everyone to be calm and refrain from judging. The investigation is ongoing, and we hope to bring the criminals to justice soon,” he said.
The body was moved to the Bondo Sub-County Hospital mortuary for an autopsy while the investigation is ongoing.
