What Ruto said about livestock vaccination

During the Herdsmen's Leadership Summit in Wajir county on Tuesday, December 10, Ruto vowed to continue with his ambitious plans despite opposition from some leaders.

The President argued that the plan is a plan that would benefit the breeders and that people who oppose it are idiots.

According to the head of state, any leader who opposes livestock vaccination is either crazy or out of his mind.

“Anyone who opposes vaccination is crazy, irrational and probably stupid. Vaccination is important because we need disease-free livestock. I want to tell the breeders that there is an evil spirit in Kenya that resides in some leaders who oppose everything,” President Ruto said.

Ruto explained that the aim of the vaccination is to ensure that livestock products from the Kenyan market meet the standards for sale in international markets, saying that for a long time, these products have been failing to meet the needs.

“We need to take responsibility for disease control and open markets for our animal products. The vaccines we will use are produced in Kenya by Kenyans. This will ensure we get national and international markets for our animal products,” the president added.

Why Kalonzo opposed cow vaccination

His remarks come after the leader of the Wiper Party and Azimio's co-leader Kalonzo Musyoka raising fears about the government's ambitious plan to vaccinate 22 million cows across the country.

In a strong statement on Friday, November 15, Kalonzo accused the Kenya First administration of promoting a corrupt foreign agenda.
