The managing director of the company, Martin Dima, confirmed the incident, saying that their arrest was made after a thorough investigation.

“Six accused employees are already under police custody, while two have fled and are being sought,” said Dima.

How did the director of Sony Sugar know about the theft?

In a letter obtained by TUKO.co.ke, Dima asked the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to investigate the matter on June 12.

The action was taken after a whistle-blower reported about free shipping of sugar from the company's warehouse on April 22.

A detailed investigation by the internal security unit and the company's audit indicted several employees as well as sugar suppliers.
