Why were the Marsabit gold mines closed?

Citizen TV reported that the Hillo mines were closed and the victims had secretly entered the mines.

Extreme insecurity in the area led to the closure of all mines, until recently, when the authorities began to assess the security situation to allow the mines to reopen.

The injured were taken to the hospital while efforts to rescue those stuck under the mines continued.

The police arrived at the area and started an investigation into the incident.

Those who lost their lives were among the 12 miners who were under the mine.

The deputy commissioner of Rongo county, John Otenga, confirmed the incident and asked the miners to be careful about the unsafe environment, especially during the rainy season.

Earlier, authorities in Rongo confirmed that the entrance to the mine had collapsed.

The rescue operation was stopped for a while, and the trapped miners stayed under the mine for several hours waiting for experts from the county government.

Residents complained about what they saw as negligence on the part of county rescue workers who did not respond to the emergency.
