Residents of Huduruma Estate, Ngurubani, Mwea have been left stunned after bees interrupted the burial ceremony and caused panic among the mourners.

What happened at Kirinyaga's funeral?

Mourners had gathered to bury former teacher Faith Njeri Murigu when the attack occurred, forcing many to flee for safety.

Several people, including relatives of the deceased and priests, were injured and needed to be taken to hospital.

Ngari Muthang'ato, the organizer of the event, confirmed the incident to Citizen Digital, explaining that it happened immediately after the funeral procession returned from worship at the ACK St. Luke Wanguru

The group was preparing to go to the grave when the bees attacked.

“Several people, including family members and priests, needed to be taken to hospital. Some of us are still recovering from injuries, and the event was called off,” he said.

Pastor Irene Gitari, who was there, explained how they prayed hard, but the bees continued to attack, forcing him to flee to their safety.

Samuel Waweru, a relative of the deceased, expressed his shock about the shocking incident.

“We came from Ndia to bury our aunt. We are very surprised by this incident. It is the first time we have witnessed something like this,” he said.

The family confirmed that the injured received treatment and were allowed to return home.

Despite the chaos, the funeral continued at night with few people present.

In another incident, a funeral ceremony in Limuru, Kiambu, attended by the former deputy president Rigathi Gachaguabroke down after a gang disrupted the event.

Chaos started when unknown people started tearing down the tent where Gachagua and his colleagues were sitting.

The group had to run to safety as the attackers scattered chairs and threw stones and irons.
