Igambi, known for his commitment to developing talent and excellence in journalism, died on Monday, December 9, at his home in Burunda, Saboti Constituency, Trans-Nzoia County.

What happened before the death of Herman Igambi?

Family members and close friends gathered to mourn the loss, while his wife, Susan Igambi narrated the challenges they encountered during his illness.

He disclosed that Igambi underwent many operations, including eye and brain surgery, which caused complications that seriously affected his health.

“After leaving work, his health deteriorated, and despite receiving various treatments, he did not fully recover. In August, he suffered a stroke that paralyzed his left hand and made him unable to speak. For four months, he lay in bed, and on the 9th, finally rested,” Susan told in an interview with Citizen TV.

Igambi's career spanned several decades, during which he contributed greatly to the Kenyan media.

He worked for prominent media organizations, including the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), Kenya Television Network (KTN), and Citizen TV, leaving behind a professional and consulting background.

In a separate article, a journalist and former broadcaster of KTN Mike Oyier died while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital.

Oyier's death shocked many on social media.

Radio announcer Name Kageni took to his social media to mourn Oyier, describing him as a genius and one of the best news anchors Kenya has ever seen.
