- Babu questioned Uhuru's sincerity in supporting Raila's Azimio La Umoja campaign during the last polls
- Known for his sharp explanations, Babu claimed his insights were often proven correct, saying, “When I tell you your wife is pregnant, just start buying diapers.”
Nairobi – Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has speculated about President William Ruto's unexpected visit to the country house of the retired president Uhuru Kenyatta located in Ichaweri, Gatundu South.
The meeting, which has left many surprised, sparking speculation in Kenya's political sphere, comes amid a history of fierce competition between the two leaders following the collapse of their coalition Jubilee Party.
Their highly publicized corruption saw Uhuru leaning on Raila Odinga's campaign for the United Declaration during the hotly contested 2022 General Election.
Political affiliation of Ruto and Uhuru have been a bit of a surprise, going from years-long partnership to conflict after 2018's handshake.
Babu, known for his sharp tongue and unsympathetic views, interpreted the meeting as evidence that Raila had been “played” ahead of the 2022 elections.
How did Babu react to the Ichaweri meeting
The young ODM MP wasted no time in sharing his thoughts, reiterating earlier claims that Uhuru's support for Raila may not have been as genuine as it appeared.
His remarks echoed his long-held belief that Raila was the victim of a “long-term loss” orchestrated from the days of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) to the controversial August 2022 elections.
“I don't know why I was born with such a mind. When I tell you that your wife is pregnant, just start buying diapers, don't ask how I know,” he said.
What did Uhuru and Ruto discuss?
On Monday, December 9, Ruto held a meeting with Uhuru at the late Gatundu's home.
The two discussed various issues, including the debate on re-establishing the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The two national leaders also discussed issues related to political stability and inclusion in the country.
Moreover, the two leaders supported the quest of Raila Odinga to be the chairman of the African Union Commission (AUC).
