Uhuru Kenyatta Welcomes William Ruto Bomani to Gatundu: “Issues of National Interest”

Kiambu – Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has welcomed his successor, William Ruto, to his home in Gatundu, Kiambu county.

In a statement on Monday, December 9, Uhuru's head of communications, Kanze Dena said Ruto paid a courtesy visit to the retired president's home.

What Ruto and Uhuru discussed Gatundu?

According to the statement, these two leaders discussed about ten national issues.

The report shows that President Ruto congratulated Uhuru for ensuring the existence of peace during the transition of power after the 2022 presidential election which was very competitive.

“President Ruto used this opportunity to express his gratitude and appreciation for President Kenyatta's ability to manage a peaceful transition of power after the 2022 elections, as well as the goodwill that the retired President has continued to show to his fellow leaders and his support for the development and progress of Kenya, “ the statement added.

Ruto and Uhuru also discussed the issue of the restoration of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The two emphasized that the parties had court cases regarding the selection committee IEBC find a way to solve their problems quickly.

“President Ruto and President Kenyatta called for an urgent resolution of court issues regarding the constitution of the IEBC selection committee, to facilitate the selection of commissioners,” the statement said.

The two leaders also asked Kenyans to support him Raila Odinga in his quest for the post of chairman of the African Union Commission (AUC).

“These two leaders called on Kenyans, friends of Kenya, and international partners to support the candidacy of Mr. Raila Odinga for the post of Chairperson of the African Union Commission.”
