- He also said that others, like Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, can take the place of opposition leader
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has criticized those Kenyans who oppose the collaboration between former prime minister Raila Odinga and President William Ruto.
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has criticized Kenyans who predict the defeat of Raila Odinga compete for AUC.
This happened after some Kenyans on X started retweeting #RailaMustFall, suggesting that the former prime minister's ambition to become the chairman of the African Union Commission will fail.
Some Kenyans seemed to suggest that Raila is not fit to lead Africa due to his collaboration with the government of Kenya First in creating a wider regime.
What did Cherargei say to Raila's critics?
Responding to the tweet, the outspoken senator took to his X account, suggesting that almost 40 years of opposition to Raila made his change of position less problematic.
He questioned critics, asking if they expected Raila to remain in opposition forever and asking them to give him a break.
“Kenyans on Twitter should give Raila a break! Where was it written that he should be in opposition politics forever? He has done it for over 40 years,” Cherargei's statement read.
He argued that some Kenyans are angry because Raila is ready to be the next chairman of the African Union Commission, describing him as a true Pan-Africanist.
Cherargei said the opposition leadership is not only about Raila and suggested that others such as the Leader of the Wiper Party Kalonzo Musyoka they can take that responsibility.
“He is on his way to become AUC chairman because he is a true Pan African and supports the HE government Ruto. That is the position of the 2022 losers against him. Opposition is not Tinga's preserve; others can do like Kalonzo. & et al. means they're doing it wrong,” Cherargei added.
