Migori: The police, in cooperation with the regional administration, are looking for a man who is alleged to have killed his 3-year-old stepson, in the sub-location of Sagegi, Suna East sub-county.
Why did Migori's family kill his son?
The suspect, identified only as Josephat, is alleged to have killed his stepson Justus Nyabioya a few hours after a heated argument with his wife Juliet Nyaboke on the night of Wednesday, December 4.
Local Assistant Chief Daniel Osika said the suspect's daughter reported that her father locked her and her brother in the house after their mother ran away.
“The girl said she felt danger and escaped through the window, but for luck bad, he couldn't save his brother because the door was locked from the outside,” Osika explained.
Osika said the suspect, who had been married to their mother for a year, allegedly returned the same night and committed the crime and ran away.
The boy's body was found the next morning by his mother who had returned home wanting to reconcile with her husband.
“When the mother returned, she found the house locked from the outside. We had to break the door, and we discovered the boy's body covered with clothes on the floor,” Osika said.
He called on the public to provide any information to help find the suspect who is still at large.
“This is a barbaric act, and we are asking the residents to help us find the suspect to ensure justice for the child,” Osika added.
