Kisii – Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department have arrested three suspects linked to the murder of a security guard at Nyachenge business centre.
Kisii Murder: What was found in Festus Odhiambo's house?
According to the statement on Friday, December 6, DCI announced the arrest of Festus Odhiambo alias Arum, Thomas Momanyi Omenta and Grace Kerubo.
During the arrest, detectives found important evidence, including the deceased's phone and some blood-stained clothes.
“Taking investigative measures, the detectives crossed Migori county, and brought out the 1st suspect – Festus Odhiambo alias Arum, 31. In his den, technicians seized a set of blood-stained clothes.
“After investigative interviews with Odhiambo, the Gucha hawks sharpened their claws on two other suspects, Thomas Momanyi Omenta, 31 and Grace Kerubo Oseko aged 26. The two were caught in Kisii township, and from them a mobile phone . stolen at the scene was found,” DCI said.
How was Kisii's night watchman killed?
The three are alleged to have ambushed the 22-year-old security guard at Engako Bar, on November 26 and beat him with crude before entering the bar and disappearing with KSh 26,000 worth of alcohol.
“In the evening of that day, the gang attacked the 22-year-old security guard at the Engako Bar located inside the Nyachenge business center, they beat him with dirty weapons and left him dead. The bar and disappeared with KSh 26,000 worth of alcohol,” DCI said.
The local chief of Tabaka informed the police about the incident, and they set up a strong team of detectives to track down the gang.
After conducting an identification parade, it emerged that the three had been partying in the bar earlier on the night of the tragic murder.
Regular customers at the bar recognized the three suspects who are currently being detained at the Nyamarambe Police Station.
A gang attacked a high school and killed the guards in Kirinyaga
Not long ago, a gang attacked Kibirigwi Secondary School in Ndia, killing the night watchman and stealing the deputy principal's car along with other valuables.
Kirinyaga County Commissioner Hussein Hallosow and Police Commander Andrew Naibei visited the school following the incident and explained that the police have launched an investigation.
Hallosow said that the suspected thieves entered the school area from the back, as it is surrounded by steel.
