Sorrow has befallen the family of a 9-year-old girl who died after eating allegedly poisonous food in a church in Vihiga county.
Nancy Ahono's parents tearfully recounted her last moments with them before going to visit her aunt in a neighboring village.
His mother, Margaret Amakove, recalled their last conversation, saying Ahono would return home for Christmas to be with his brother.
“I am very sad for losing my daughter; we got along very well when he was alive. We agreed he would come home for Christmas. Please pray for us,” he said while crying.
However, later he received a call telling him to run to the hospital because his son was in the hospital.
Reginold Atsiango, the girl's father, recalled the moment his daughter left him, saying in disbelief.
“He left me yesterday at 8.30 in the morning,” he said.
Several other family members, including their son, are also admitted at the Emuhaya Sub-County Hospital.
For luck Unfortunately, Ahono who was scheduled to join Class Four in 2025 passed away while receiving treatment while his older brother was in the hospital receiving treatment.

The security guard, Benson Olubowa, is also mourning the loss of his 66-year-old wife, Mary Mideva, who died following the incident.
He remembered arriving home early in the morning of that fateful day and finding his family members in a bad state.
“They ate rice, I knew they were all fine when I left to go to work in the evening; I was shocked when I came back the next morning at 6am.”
“I froze for about 15 minutes watching them, because everyone was having diarrhea and vomiting,” he said.

Previously, TUKO.co.ke reported that more than 47 people were admitted to Emuhaya Sub-County hospital due to suspected food poisoning at a church event.
Those who ate the food reported stomach aches, diarrhea, and headaches.
The victims ate rice and beans in a local church in Luanda constituency on Sunday, December 1.
