Nairobi – Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) has requested the return of the KSh 5 million donation given by President William Ruto to the church through the governor of Bungoma Kenneth Lusaka.
During a press conference of the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) on Tuesday, December 3, Ole Sapit expressed dismay at the acceptance of the money by the bishop of Bungoma.
He mentioned the move as luck bad and against the principles of ACK, which rejects contributions from ambiguous sources.

The priest claimed that the donation was intended to embarrass ACK after the Catholic church rejected the donation Ruto in the Nairobi church.
“What happened in Bungoma was sad because it was like a show trying to see what the Anglican church will do following the decision of the Catholics,” Alas Sapit said.

He stressed the importance of rejecting donations from political leaders unless their sources are clear.
The man of the cloth further called for cultural change, urging Kenyans to stop celebrating corrupt people.
“I urge all of us as Kenyans to reject the donations of political leaders and their elected officials, knowing that most of the money given is tax theft. We must stop celebrating every time the president, MPs, governors, MCAs and other political actors donate money from their source. are not clear,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ruto has called for an end to the recent tensions between priests and government officials following the rejection of his donation to the Catholic church in Soweto.
The tension erupted after the church refused and vowed to return the KSh 5.6 million given and promised by the president, citing a violation of the church's directives regarding gifts.
During the interfaith service in Kimana, Kajiado South, on Sunday, December 1, Ruto emphasized the importance of peace and harmony and urged government and religious leaders to put aside their differences and work together to move Kenya forward.
