Vihiga – One person has been confirmed dead, and 46 others are currently receiving treatment at Emuhaya Sub-County Hospital in Luanda constituency following an alleged food poisoning incident.

What did Vihiga food poisoning victims eat?
TUKO.co.ke revealed that the victims ate rice and beans in a local church on Sunday, December 1.
Police reports say that shortly after eating the food, they started vomiting profusely and had diarrhea which led to hospitalization.
Health officials have not yet issued an official statement to the media, and the cause of the incident is still under investigation.
The situation is still dire with more people in the area being reported to be affected.
The health team, led by Vihiga County Health Director Benjamin Induswe and Mafisi Fredrick, the County Health Committee Chairman, are fully in charge of the care of the victims.
They work around the clock to provide medical care and bring stability to patients.
Is the situation at Emuhaya Hospital worse?
However, some residents, fearing that the condition of their loved ones will get worse, request to transfer them to another hospital for special attention.
One resident, who did not want to be named, expressed concern, saying, “The situation is getting worse, and we fear the worst.”
Another resident added: “We are losing hope; we need urgent measures to save other patients.”
Efforts by TUKO.co.ke to reach the hospital or talk to the health officials in charge of the victims have not been successful.
The community is left with doubts as they wait for more information from the health department. Many are eager for official confirmation and more information on how to handle the growing crisis.
How many police officers were hospitalized in Nakuru?
In a related incident, six police officers and several civilians have been hospitalized after falling ill with what is suspected to be food poisoning.
Police said 10 people fell ill after eating food that was served during a lunch organized by officers from the Salgaa traffic station on Saturday, March 23, at the Lee Resort Hotel.
A media report revealed that the food was prepared elsewhere by police officers and an outside catering company before being delivered to the venue.
