Former Limuru MP Peter Mwathi, who was allegedly abducted during funeral riots in Limuru on Thursday, November 28, has narrated his ordeal at the hands of his alleged kidnappers.
What did Mwathi say about his alleged kidnapping?
Mwathi said that during the funeral service of Erastus Nduati, who was the deputy president Rigathi Gachagua attended, he noted the presence of many young people who seemed to cause problems.
Speaking to KTN, Mwathi said his fear was confirmed when the young men started shaking the tent where Gachagua was sitting, a situation that caused people to run for their safety.
Noticing the lack of security at the funeral, Mwathi said three of his men came to him and ran with him for about 2.5 kilometers before reaching a taxi that would help them flee the area.
However, when he was driving towards Naivasha, two cars allegedly blocked the car he was in and unknown people took him.
“One car stopped in front and the other was blocked at the back. They came to the back of the car, they took me out. I could see that the cars did not have a registration number.”
Mwathi claimed he was sitting between two men who guarded him on both sides of the car, adding that they circled around for a while.
“We drove from one road to another, one forest to another, they used threatening words and asked me several questions about whether I love myself and my wife and children. They also asked what kind of work I do. The party I join,” Mwathi claimed. .
He claimed he was asked if he supports the current administration, to which he replied yes, despite being against the government.

Mwathi noted that he did not see the faces of the people because they were covered.
The former MP said the men had switched off his phone, blocking any incoming calls.
However, after driving with him for a while, they dropped him off along South Road at around 11.30pm
“Each of them had a mask, including the driver. I was dropped off in a dark place somewhere along the Southern Bypass,” he said.
MP Mwathi said he was not physically attacked but endured psychological torture, while always questioning his fate at the hands of the people who allegedly kidnapped him.
Gachagua wanted the government to remove security
In a separate incident, the former vice president criticized the government for allegedly withdrawing its security before the riots at Limuru's funeral.
He said that the government's action made him vulnerable to attack. Although he chose not to challenge the decision, he admitted that it did not make him happy.
Gachagua continued to say that any Kenyan who has served at his level of government is always given security even after leaving office.
