Rigathi Gachagua Says He Regrets Following Ruto Kipopu: “Given Another Chance I Can't”

Why Gachagua regrets working with Ruto

During a television interview on NTV On Sunday, December 1, Gachagua recalled incidents where the president ignored his advice.

Gachagua recounted how he tried to convince the president to rein in the security chiefs regarding the increase in cases of kidnapping and enforced disappearance.

“Actually, the president has treated me a lot as a Christian, sometimes I feel sorry for him because on this issue of abduction, I sat him down and told the president not to reject this abduction because of them. continues,” Gachagua said.

Despite facing the challenges of advising the president, the former Mathira MP said he does not regret supporting him Ruto.

“I do not regret supporting President William Ruto. One, I had the opportunity to serve and learn. And I am a wiser person. I have more knowledge. And I have more experience. The mistakes I made then, I will do. I will not make them now,” he said.

However, Gachagua said his only regret is supporting the blind president in all matters without questioning.

The former second leader said that if given a second chance, he will treat Ruto as a politician and not a Christian.

“The only regret I have is that I dealt with President William Ruto as a Christian. I trusted him. I trusted him. Whatever he told me, I took it as the truth and acted blindly. Another day, when I was given another opportunity, I believed him. You will engage him as a politician and as a politician you don't trust anyone,” he added.

Was there a plot to kill Gachagua?

During the same interview, the former vice president claimed a plot to kill him during a chaotic funeral in Limuru.

The incident that happened on Thursday, November 28, witnessed hooligans disrupting the event, destroying tents, chairs and cars, including that of Gachagua and the MPs who accompanied him.

Gachagua claimed that the plot to end his life was planned and executed correctly.

He linked the allegations to the removal of his security detail following his visit to Murang'a on Sunday, November 24. According to him, the move left him vulnerable, paving the way for attacks.
