On Monday, June 3, national newspapers reported extensively on the television interview of former vice president Rigathi Gachagua.
The papers also reported on the plans of the former prime minister Raila Odinga for the 2027 General Election.
1. Daily Nation
The publication reported that former prime minister Raila Odinga assured members and supporters of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) that the outfit would present a presidential candidate in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking in Vihiga county, Raila dismissed reports of a merger or alliance with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ahead of the next General Election.
While hinting at his desire to run for the presidency in 2027, the former Prime Minister said his interest in domestic politics is still strong despite competing for the chair of the African Union Commission (AUC).
“Although I am expected to seize the chairmanship of the African Union Commission (AUC), my interest in the leadership of Kenya cannot be desired. I have been given the great responsibility of winning the chairmanship of the AUC to simplify the politics of African nations, but Kenya remains in my heart,” Raila said.

The veteran politician tasked those holding leadership positions in ODM to expand their position in the country's politics by grabbing swing counties that are not strongholds of ODM parties or UDA.
“In Kenya, ODM is leading by ruling Nyanza, West, Coast and North East. UDA is big in the Rift Valley and Central parts. The rest of the regions are faltering and we have to close them under ODM rule,” he said.
2. The Standard
The publication reported on Deputy President Kithure Kindiki's faith in the Kenyan government's determination to revive the economy.
Speaking at a church service at the Gospel Outreach Church, Kyuso, Mwingi North constituency, on Sunday, December 1, Kindiki assured Kenyans who are going through difficult economic times that the difficult period will end soon.
According to the vice president, the administration of the President William Ruto will strengthen the economy before the 2027 General Election.
He said that the state of the country's economy is bad, but the current administration has taken steps to bring the economy back on track.
“I want to assure Kenyans that in two to three years, our economy will be where it should be. Where we came from is far. The hardest part of the journey is getting back behind us as the little indicators look good,” Kindiki said.

A Swahili newspaper reported on the mysterious death of a young doctor and his lover in Kisii county.
The shocking incident, believed to have happened several days earlier, was revealed when neighbors noticed a foul smell coming from the apartment.
The deceased woman, identified as 29-year-old Angela Moraa, who was reportedly linked to the United States, was found dead next to her husband, 28-year-old Vincent, a doctor at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.
The couple was found holding hands, while the woman's body showed signs of decomposition.
The family became worried after several unsuccessful attempts to contact him by phone. They then had to inquire about Vincent's whereabouts at work, where they were told he was last seen on Wednesday, November 27.

“We tried to call him many times, but his phone was switched off. When we inquired at Kisii Referral Hospital, we were informed that he was last seen on Wednesday,” Nyambunde said.
4. Nation Today
The Kiswahili newspaper reports on the claims of the former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua that Limuru Member of Parliament John Kiragu was responsible for the attack against him during the funeral service in Limuru.
Gachagua claimed that the same people who were recorded attacking him and disrupting services later escorted the MP to safety.
Speaking during an interview on television NTV Kenya on Sunday, December 1, Gachagua suggested that there is no need for complex analysis to understand the attack and the people who allegedly planned it.
“People were caught on video attacking the former vice president and the same people were seen escorting the local MP to safety. You don't need rocket science to know that these criminals and this MP were on the same mission,” he demanded.
