- President William Ruto is ready to become the new chairman of the East African Community following the elections
- Voting took place during the EAC Summit, which began on Friday, November 29, and was attended by the presidents of the member states
- During the meeting, the Federal Republic of Somalia was named as the EAC rapporteur for the coming year
President William Ruto has got a high position as the new chairman of the East African Community succeeding the President of South Sudan Salva Kiir.
The announcement comes on Saturday, November 30, after the election among the presidents of the member countries of EACwhich ensured Ruto's victory.
Ruto's latest achievement comes during his visit to Arusha, Tanzaniafor the 24th Regular Meeting of East African Heads of State.
During the meeting, the Federal Republic of Somalia was appointed as the EAC Rapporteur for the coming year.
The election was made by the presidents of East African countries, including Kenya, UgandaTanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan and Somalia.

Ruto heads to Arusha for a meeting of EAC heads
Ruto's latest achievement was announced a day after he traveled to Arusha, Tanzania, for the EAC Summit.
The leaders in attendance discussed measures to strengthen peace and security, including strategies to deal with international crimes in the region.
Ruto later joined an interactive session to mark the 25th anniversary of the EAC and its progress towards a political federation.
He was also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with regional leaders on the sidelines of the expected meeting.
On Thursday, October 31, Ruto visited Burundi to support Raila Odinga's bid to become AUC chairman at the COMESA meeting.
The meeting took place during his meetings with several African leaders, including the presidents of Egypt and Zambia and the prime minister of Ethiopia.
He also participated in high-level discussions to strengthen Kenya's relationship with key strategic partners, stressing the need to strengthen regional value chains to promote COMESA cooperation.
