Why was Rigathi Gachagua Limuru?
The former vice president had celebrated the funeral service of the late Erastus Nduati, AKA Mwene Limuru, when suspected thugs disrupted the event leaving several people injured.
In a video seen by TUKO.co.ke, violence broke out after thugs started shaking the tent where the former DP and his allies, including Kiambu senator Karungo Wa Thang'wa, were sitting.
Just before Gachagua was invited to address the mourners, a group of locals started trying to tear down the tent, causing those inside to run outside in fear.
The worshipers were filmed fleeing for safety as rival groups engaged in heated arguments that resulted in the destruction of an undisclosed amount of property.
During the chaos, a car reportedly belonging to the former vice president was also vandalized. A photo of the scene shows the black rear window of the Toyota Land Cruiser smashed.
Gachagua and other dignitaries were removed by their security.
Did the government remove the security of Gachagua?
This incident comes a few days after Gachagua claimed that the government completely removed his security, accusing him of funding the opposition against the government of President William Ruto.
Confidential sources in the Ministry of Interior were reported to claim that the major authorities in the country want Gachagua to be prevented from entering the country in the early stages of the campaign to help the government implement development projects.
The sources claimed that Gachagua seems determined to lead a rebellion against the government and must be watched.
