The West Africans have failed to play against Tanzania at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, a result that means they will miss AFCON 2025.

Why Guinea wants Tanzania to be removed from AFCON 2025

However, Syli National submitted its complaint accusing Tanzania of playing an ineligible player in the match. In their appeal, Guinea has said that Ibrahim Ame, who was brought into the field in the 73rd minute, wore the wrong number, against CAF regulations.

Ame's number on the official team sheet was 24, but he wore number 26, when he entered the field. Guinea, therefore, wants CAF to remove Tanzania and instead promote it.

CAF responds to Guinea's complaint

Guinea have now confirmed that they have heard from CAF, who have promised to follow up as soon as possible.

“CAF informed the Guinean Football Federation (FGF) that the CAF Disciplinary Secretariat has considered FGF's complaint regarding the match between Tanzania and Guinea,” read part of the statement.

Guinea has asked CAF to announce itself and explain the rules.

Both sides will now eagerly await the CAF results to find out who will qualify for Morocco next year. DR Congo qualified as group winners.
