Murang'a – Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has announced his return to radical politics, just one month after his removal from power.
Why Gachagua wants to start a new political movement
Speaking at the AIPCA church in Kangari, Kigumo, Sunday, November 24, Gachagua revealed plans to start a strong political movement in 2025, aiming to change the political environment before the 2027 General Election.
Gachagua, who was the Member of Parliament for Mathira, expressed confidence that the movement will have a big impact, promising to bring the voters of Mount Kenya together and protect their interests.
“The political movement that starts on the mountain here in 2025. The year 2002 will look like a joke. We will join with other Kenyans to find the right direction and define our destiny,” he said.

He emphasized that the main goal of the movement will be to oppose the President William Ruto and probably remove him from power in the next election.
Referring to the political dynamics in Mount Kenya, Gachagua criticized the region's previous decision to join forces with Ruto, saying that the decision was made without fully understanding the true nature of the President.
The opinionated leader added his commitment to defend the interests of the Mt Kenya region, stressing his determination to ensure that the voters of the region will not be disrespected again in future elections.
“No longer will any leader ignore this mountain, and we will never gamble with our votes. Our votes will be well planned, will be calculated, will be built on a solid foundation, and will be preserved so that the mountain does not find itself in a difficult situation like we are now,” he added.
Gachagua's statements come as the political heat rises, a situation that lays the foundation for the possibility of a major political struggle in Kenya.
