The announcement claimed that Ezekiel Mutua has been stripped of the leadership of MCSK immediately.
“This is to inform the public, our stakeholders and our esteemed members that Ezekiel Mutua has been suspended and is not allowed to do business on behalf of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK). MCSK will not be responsible for any contractual obligations arising from that person. From the board,” read the announcement.
Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi shared the announcement on X, claiming the board had replaced Mutua due to a long legal battle.
Is Ezekiel Mutua suspended?
In response, Mutua laughed off the reports and termed them as normal rumours.
“Kenyans are very fond of mucene and jaba stories! I had a very busy weekend and did not have time to respond to propaganda on social media,” he wrote.
Mutua revealed that he was shocked by the news, admitting that he received calls from worried Kenyans.
“I was very busy serving the nation and supporting artistes. Therefore, I was very surprised to learn later that while I was continuing to perform my duties as the Executive Director of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya, someone was spreading malicious propaganda about my dismissal, or suspension ?
“I have received many calls and messages from people who thought that the rumor was true. When I searched the internet, I was shocked how the lie spread despite the fact that the Chairman of the Board had given information about the matter,” he wrote.
The MCSK leader insisted that he is still in office and has not been fired or suspended.
“So let me set the record straight: I am in the office and I have not been suspended or fired. The bloggers who spread this would be more useful if they came to the office and interviewed me from there,” he continued.
