What started as a peaceful trip for the students took a tragic turn when the bus they were traveling in was involved in an accident near Kakima Market in Mbooni sub-county, Makueni County.

What caused the Makueni accident?
The accident happened on Saturday evening, November 23, when the school bus lost its direction and overturned, leaving the students stuck inside.
In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, Kenya Red Cross Society Senior Communications Officer Ahmed Munir confirmed that rescue teams were dispatched to the scene and successfully rescued the students.
Munir further confirmed that there were no deaths and that only 11 students were injured in the incident.
“A rescue team was sent by the Makueni government. Fortunately, there were no deaths. However, 11 students were injured,” Munir said.
The injured students were taken to Mbooni Referral Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
