Why is Havi thinking of running for president?

This was after he conducted a poll on his X account asking for the opinion of Kenyans on who between him (Havi), Matiang'i and the President William Rutohe should lead the country.

He had expressed interest in running for the presidency after his efforts to persuade the former Chief Justice David Maraga vying for that seat seems to have failed.

“If Kenyans are not careful, Dr Fred Matiang'i may be the only alternative to Dr William Ruto in 2027 and he may become President. We would go from bad to worse. That is why if CJ David Maraga rejects our application to run, I will offer my name, ” he posted.

The vote attracted more than 17,000 Kenyans, with Matiang'i getting 51%, Havi (33.5%) and Ruto (15.5%).

Having followed Matiang'i into second place, Havi believed he would be better suited to replace Matiang'i, who he argued would form a formidable coalition.

“Kenyans can't be helped. Let me find Dr. Fred Matiang'i and see if I can be his Deputy President. I think we will make a great team. Let's plan ahead. How about friends?” he put.

Havi had asked Maraga to consider running for the presidency as “he is a wise and experienced leader who can bring about reforms”.
