When did Collins Kibet disappear?

Kibet, who allegedly abandoned her two children, failed to attend the court hearing on Thursday, November 21, despite a personal bond of KSh 1 million against her.

The newspaper Daily Nation reported that Kibet disappeared a day after briefly attending a settlement meeting with his ex-wife, Gladys Jeruto Tagi, to settle their ongoing dispute out of court.

According to Kibet's lawyer Andrew Muge, the two parties were scheduled to meet at about 2pm on Wednesday, November 20.

However, when the time of the meeting approached, the grandson of the former president could not be reached on the phone, even by his lawyer.

“I was in contact with Kibet who instructed me to arrange an online meeting with Tagi and his legal team, we started the session from 2:30 pm and waited for him in vain. Efforts to reach him via mobile phone. it was unsuccessful as his number was not available,” Muge told the court.

Tagi's lawyer, Elizabeth Wangare, asked the court to restore Kibet's arrest warrant, accusing him of deliberately conspiring to delay the trial.

“His actions do not show a serious person about resolving the matter outside the court,” Wangare said.

Earlier, Kibet told the Nakuru court that he could not pay the KSh 1 million monthly allowance that his estranged wife needed.
