The university awarded the three-time Olympic champion the degree during their 2024 graduation ceremony on Thursday.

Why was Faith Kipyegon given an honorary degree?
A doctorate in Education was awarded to Kipyegon in recognition of his professionalism and contribution to athletics. Apart from putting Kenya on the global map for sustainable success, he also runs an institute in partnership with Nike.
“Kipyegon is an accomplished middle and long-distance runner and the world record holder for the 1,500 meters and the mile. His greatest achievement is becoming the first triple Olympic champion while winning three Olympic gold medals in those events . the women's 1,500 meter race,” read the earlier notice of the University.
Faith Kipyegon's 2024 season
The mother of one cemented her place as the greatest 1500m runner the world has ever seen. He set a new Olympic record en route to winning his third distance title at the Paris Games in August.
A few weeks before the games, he had lowered his 1500m world record to the current 3:49.04.
After the Olympics, Kipyegon won a fifth Diamond League trophy before heading to Athlos NYC, where he ended the season with the biggest track and field payoff.
Why has Faith Kipyegon invited her opponents to Kenya?

Kipyegon, who has established himself as the best 1500m runner of all time, now wants his competitors to join him in Kenya.
After completing his 2024 season, Kipyegon went to Amboseli and Diani National Park with his family as part of his partnership with the Kenya Tourism Board.
