Uganda – Entertainer of TikTok aged 21, has been sentenced to prison for publishing a video mocking President Yoweri Museveni.
Who is Emmanuel Nabugoli?
Emmanuel Nabugoli, known for sharing comedy videos with his 20,000 followers, was sentenced on Monday, November 18, after pleading guilty to several charges, including spreading hatred and spreading false information about the president.
After finding him guilty, Chief Magistrate Stellah Maris Amabilis sentenced Nabugodi to 32 months in prison.
The judge explained that he reached his decision after the suspect failed to show remorse for his actions.
According to Amabilis, the sentence will serve as a lesson against using social networks to attack individuals, including the president.
“This court hopes that by the time the inmate leaves prison, he will have learned that torturing people for content is wrong,” Amabilis said as reported by The Monitor.
During the trial, the court was told how the suspect made a video in which he made a mock trial against the president and demanded that Museveni be flogged in public.
What did David Mokaya post about Ruto?
Elsewhere, a university student was accused of publishing false information about the President William Ruto.
On Monday, November 18, David Oaga Mokaya was brought before Senior High Magistrate Benmark Ekhumbi, where he was charged with computer misuse and cyber crime.
Mokaya was accused of publishing false news by publishing a photo of a funeral procession with a coffin draped in the Kenyan flag escorted by military officers in ceremonial uniform.
According to the charge sheet, Mokaya allegedly shared the photo on his X account and wrote a short caption to show the body of President William Ruto being transported.
