Why is William Ruto punishing Ndindi Nyoro
Ruto appears to be preparing a major shake-up in the National Assembly to replace dishonest committee chairmen and vice-chairmen with loyal allies.
One of the committees that will have a new chairman is the powerful Budget and Expenditure Committee headed by Kiharu Member of Parliament (MP) Ndindi Nyoro.
According to Daily NationNyoro who is serving his second term as Member of Parliament for Kiharu, will be replaced by Member of Parliament for Molo, Kimani Kuria, who is the chairman of the Finance and Planning Committee.
Citizen TV reported that the president is under pressure to reward members of parliament who supported the motion of former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
What are the functions of the Budget Committee?
Parliament noted that the Budget and Expenditure Committee is:
- Investigate, investigate and provide information on all issues related to the coordination, control and monitoring of the national budget.
- Discuss and review the estimates and make recommendations to Parliament.
- Examine the Budget Policy Statement presented to Parliament.
- Examining bills related to the national budget, including Appropriation Bills; and
- Evaluate tax estimates, economic and budgetary policies and plans for direct use of the budget.
What other MPs will be affected?
Ndindi Nyoro never supported the removal of Gachagua.
He did not appear in the National Assembly during the process of removing Gachagua and his colleagues when they voted to approve the appointment of Kithur Kindiki as the vice president.
The purge will affect 12 other MPs.
These are Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba (Constitution Implementation and Management Committee), Ndia Member of Parliament George Kariuki (Transport and Infrastructure) and Member of Parliament for Embakasi North James Gakuya (Business, Industry and Co-operative Societies).
Others are Emurua Member of Parliament Dikir Johanna Ngeno (Housing, Urban Development and Public Works), Mwala Member of Parliament Vincent Musyoka (Energy), Kipipiri Member of Parliament Wanjiku Muhia (Regional Cooperation), Kitui East Member of Parliament Nimrod Mbai (Public Petition ) and Maara Member of Parliament Kareke Mbiuki (Tourism). and Wildlife).
