Nairobi – A close associate of the former vice president Rigathi Gachagua and Laikipia senator John Kinyua has resigned from his leadership position in the Senate.
What position did Senator John Kinyua hold?
On Tuesday, November 19, Kinyua, who was among the senators who voted against Gachagua's removal, resigned as a member of the Parliamentary Services Commission (PSC).
President's UDA party William Ruto appointed Nyeri Senator Wahome Waminga to replace Kinyua.
Majority Leader in the Senate Aaron Cheruiyot presented a motion regarding the approval of Wamatinga for the appointment of the Parliamentary Services Commission, and the motion was unanimously approved.
“That, in accordance with the provisions of Article 127(2)(c)(i) of the Constitution, the Senate approves the nomination of Senator Wahome Wamatinga, Member of Parliament, to be appointed to the Parliamentary Service Commission to fill the position by resigning. of Senator John Nderitu Kinyua,” The Supplemental Order Paper read.
The latest developments come amid plans for the leadership of Kenya First expel those who support Gachagua from the leadership positions of the parliament.
