Kalonzo Musyoka Congratulates Catholic Church For Rejecting Ruto's 5.6m: “Let's End Corruption”

Nairobi—Leader of the party Wiper Democratic Movement Kalonzo Musyoka has joined Kenyans in praising the Catholic Church for rejecting donations from politicians.

Why the Catholic church rejects Ruto's contribution is good

On Monday, November 18, the Archdiocese of Nairobi rejected KSh 5.6 million offered by the President William Ruto to the Catholic Church in Soweto.

Responding to Archbishop Philip Anyolo's action, Kalonzo said rejecting Ruto's contribution is a sincere commitment to fight corruption.

According to Kalonzo, the Catholic Church's decision is in line with Gen Z's goals of transparency and accountability.

“I congratulate the Catholic Bishops for their strong position to return KSh 2.6 million of William Ruto and governor Sakaja's KSh 200,000 'donations' to the Soweto Catholic Church in Nairobi. This is the true anti-corruption movement in our country, and it is consistent and GenZ's policy of transparency and accountability,” Kalonzo said.

At the same time, the former vice president attacked the administration of Kenya Firstaccusing it of abusing its power for political activities.

“Kenya Kwanza's administration should stop its blatant behavior of using their positions for political gain,” he added.

Sudi makes allegations about why the church rejected Ruto's donation

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Kapseret Oscar Sudi apologized to the priests after rejecting Ruto's donation of KSh 5.6 million to the Catholic Church in Soweto, Nairobi.

Sudi expressed his regret if the donation would offend church leaders, stressing that all people, including priests, congregations, and politicians, are not perfect.

He stressed the importance of giving tithes and supporting places of worship, saying that the church should be supported by all people because it does not have special people to help with donations.

He emphasized that direct donations to the primary churches without notifying the senior church leaders may cause tension.

Sudi addressed this by noting that invitations to support church projects often come directly from priests and pastors.
