Nairobi, Kenya – Thousands of people gathered on Saturday to bid farewell to Mary Sinaida Akatsa, the founder of the Jerusalem Church of Christ.
Akatsa, affectionately known as “Sister Mary” to her faithful followers, was buried in the grounds of her church there Kawangware.
According to Nation reports, his family decided to bury him on the property in Nairobi due to a land ownership dispute.
The original plans were for the famous prophet to be buried in Western Kenya, but the family changed the plan.
The decision was aimed at protecting the property of the church, which Akatsa strongly defended.
The political leaders who attended the funeral mentioned the move as a way to prevent those who are alleged to be interested in grabbing the land for personal gain.
Senator Sifuna promises to stand with the Akatsa family
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifunawho also served as a family lawyer, vowed to help his sons Akatsa, David Jogoo and Moses Sangolo, to protect their mother's inheritance and property.
Reflecting on her personal relationship with the prophet, Sifuna recounted how his prayers fueled her political campaigns.
“He used to make sure my plane tickets from Nairobi to Kakamega were covered until I could afford it myself,” Sifuna remembered.
Sifuna revealed that Akatsa had handed over the legal case regarding the land to his youngest son before his death.
