The Standard newspaper reported on the U-turn made by the former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua in the case previously filed against him by the President William Ruto.
A case was filed by a group of petitioners who wanted to remove from office the president and his former deputy through a referendum.
In the case, Ruto and Gachagua were accused of allowing oppressive tax systems, killing protesters and entering into secret agreements with the government of United States.
The two were further accused of seizing parliament, encouraging and influencing the resignation of members of parliament to turn the Kenya First Union into a majority party in the National Assembly, defending and implementing the tax system and economic policies set by the World Bank and International. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is hostile to Kenyans and appoints government and public officials through ethnic discrimination.

They were also accused of appointing the Cabinet in violation of the two-thirds gender rule. The plaintiffs also claim that by using the Tax Authority of Kenya (KRA) to collect money in the county, the Head of State has undermined devolution.
Ruto and Gachagua hired lawyer Fred Ngatia to represent them; Gachagua had not yet been charged.
But several weeks after being removed from power, the former vice president has changed his position in the case and is now on the side of the plaintiffs, as The Standard newspaper suggests.
Gachagua appointed new lawyers to represent him in the case.
