This was after the magazine Daily Nation publishing news that showed that Gachagua's visit to the PriestHood Fellowship Church in Kahawa West, Nairobiwas surrounded by thugs in the residence of the resident priest of the church, Pastor JJ Gitahi.

According to the newspaper, the detectives drove to Gitahi's residence in Ruiru on Sunday morning wanting to know why he was welcoming Gachagua to his church.

The investigators maintained that hosting the former vice president was a threat to the nation as he would use the pulpit to mobilize the public due to his recent political woes.

In his response, DCI it said that its activities are in accordance with the law and that at no time did it think of violating the former vice president's right to worship.
