Tabora – Police in the southern region Kenya have launched a search for the driver who allegedly caused a fatal road accident that claimed the lives of 14 people.

The accident happened on Thursday, November 8, on Itobo-Bukene Road, Nzega District.

According to the police, a small Toyota Hiace passenger car hit a Mitsubishi Fuso truck from behind and went under the hood of the heavy truck, Mwananchi reported.

The authorities attributed the accident to the alleged negligence of the driver, who they noted did not take road safety precautions.

The dead are eight men, four women, and two children; nine people suffered injuries of varying degrees.

The driver of the small car left immediately after the accident.

“The cause of the accident is the negligence of the Hiace driver who was trying to pass the truck in front of him and failed to control his car and hit it from the rear on the right side and went under the gap of the truck which caused the situation. deaths and injuries,” the police said.

The bodies were transported to the mortuary of the Nzega District Hospital.

According to the police, two injured have been admitted to one hospital (Nzega), while seven others with serious injuries have been referred to Nkinga Hospital.
