- Several bags of cash, notes and coins have been found in the house of the late prophet Mary Akatsa
- Akatsa, who founded the Jerusalem Church of Christ in the 1980s, made his fortune from subscriptions, tithes, and charitable contributions.
- It was difficult to explain his wealth because he lived in a poor house in Kawangware and wore ordinary clothes
It has emerged that Prophet Mary Sinaida Akatsa left behind sacks of money in her house in the street Kawangware.
The founder of the Jerusalem Church of Christ died on October 26 after suffering from kidney problems for a long time.
Where Did Akatsa Funds Go?
The Nation report states that Akatsa's brothers and the family's lawyer deposited the money in the bank.
An elder of Nyumba Kumi who witnessed the incident revealed that he counted at least three bags being taken to the bank.
However, he was slightly distracted and did not finish counting the total of all the bags.
How did Akatsa make money?
Information shows that the servant of God had several ways to get rich.
The first was through church registration as each follower was required to pay a fee to join his sect.
He probably made money from tithes and registration fees as his church, founded in the 1980s, had over 6,000 followers.
In addition to members, Akatsa had relationship outside the church and often received funding from good Samaritans.
Akatsa was a good farmer
The prophet also had a piece of land in Lugari where he did large-scale farming.
He also had several pieces of farmland Nairobi and valuable property in Vihiga.
Before his death, it was hard to imagine that he was rich due to the way he lived his life in humility.
This is because Akatsa lived in a modest house in Kawangware while her children lived in a posh Karen neighborhood.
