Nakuru – A prison officer has been killed and another injured in Mogoon street after angry residents attacked them on suspicion of theft.

The incident was confirmed by Police Commander Michael Mwaura, who reported that two other suspects managed to escape from the scene.
According to the police, the suspects were using a vehicle containing items related to the police, including handcuffs and uniforms, which were later recovered.
It is alleged that the suspects pretended to be police officers to carry out the robbery, thus causing a situation of violence from the local community.
What happened when the prison officer was attacked?
Mogoon residents gave their own accounts of the incident. Peter Kiptanui, a witness, described hearing a loud commotion outside his house as people shouted “thief” as they surrounded the suspects.
They reported that the men allegedly stole things and were using police uniforms to hide.
“I heard a lot of noise outside, with people shouting 'thief.' I was told the suspects who were surrounded by the mob stole and were pretending to be police officers,” said Peter Kiptanui. “They had police uniforms in their bag,” another resident confirmed.
The police are looking for two suspects who fled the scene and are working to ensure security amid the protests caused by the incident.
DCI arrested another suspect in the death of Willis Ayieko
Elsewhere, DCI detectives have arrested another suspect linked to the murder of the human resources manager of Wells Fargo HR Willis Ayieko.
Suspect Fredrick Otieno who is a bodaboda driver is alleged to have transported one of the suspects to the area where Ayieko was kidnapped.
Detectives have promised to follow up on all leads to reveal the full circumstances surrounding Ayieko's murder.
