Fever Bay – Eight people, including the center manager, inspectors, BOG teachers, and other officials from Pala Masogo Secondary School in Homa Bay county, were arrested on Monday, November 4, for allegedly stealing an exam.
The incident happened inside the school, where the suspects were found trying to produce a copy of the chemistry paper for the exam KCSE.
Speaking directly to TUKO.co.ke, Homa Bay Sub County Deputy Commissioner Emmanuel Kiplagat confirmed that all the suspects connected to the test center were detained after they were caught doing so.
“Some teachers were found copying exam papers, and all eight suspects are now in custody,” Kiplagat said, noting that all the evidence was seized by the police.
Among those arrested are senior administrators responsible for maintaining the integrity of the examinations, including the center manager and several administrators.
How exam theft at Pala Masogo School will be prevented
Kiplagat stressed that the education authorities are intensifying their efforts to prevent such incidents, while the law enforcement agencies are closely monitoring to ensure that the examination regulations are followed.
He assured the people and the education department that anyone involved in exam theft will be taken legal action.
“We will arrest anyone who tries to be involved in exam irregularities,” he said, adding that although the copied papers did not reach the classroom, the people arrested were linked to the irregularities.
Furthermore, Kiplagat announced that there will be changes in the administration of examinations at the school, affecting security officers, inspectors and the center manager.
The suspects are currently detained at the Homa Bay Police Station.
2 school principals arrested for giving fake KPSEA exams
Elsewhere, two directors of Silver Bells Academy were arrested after 23 candidates were caught with fake KPSEA examination papers.
According to the police, the candidates were given copied KPSEA 2023 papers because the school had not registered them with the National Board of Examinations. Kenya (KNEC).
Director Margaret Ingaasi claimed that the students missed their exams because the papers they intended were sent to a different center.
