Nairobi: 33-year-old Journalist Allegedly Killed by Her Boyfriend in Kahawa West

Nairobi – As cases of femicide are increasing across the country, a Nairobi family is mourning the death of their 33-year-old daughter, a former Radio 44 presenter.

Lilian Achieng' Aluko had told her parents that she planned to spend time with her boyfriend in Kahawa West, but that was the last they heard from her.

A few hours later, her body was found with stab wounds at her boyfriend's home, leaving her family heartbroken.

“He left around five in the morning and told me he was going to visit his girlfriend in Jua Kali area. He did not return until Friday when I received a call from an unknown number. The suspect George Mutegi has not been arrested. I have seen him come to my house twice. He is someone I know, ” his mother, Jane Akinyi, recalled.

How Lilian Aluko's family mourned her

Aluko's brother, Shadrack Aluko, expressed grief over his tragic death, saying it was heartbreaking and he did not wish anyone to go through such a situation.

“It sounds like a movie. Having seen past events, I never thought it would happen to my sister,” said his brother.

Friends of the deceased also mourned his death, feeling that it probably happened at the hands of someone he trusted and loved.

Police confirmed that Aluko suffered multiple injuries, including a facial wound and a knife wound behind his right ear, and found a knife believed to have been used in the murder.

Her boyfriend, who is currently absconding, is the prime suspect in the case.

As the police begin an investigation into her death, the family is now demanding justice, determined to ensure accountability for the unexpected loss of their beloved daughter.

“I am saddened and heartbroken because his light has been taken too soon. All we want is justice for him and we ask Kenyans to pray for Aluko's family because it is not an easy thing to deal with,” his sister, Diane Aluko, cried.
