Nairobi – Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has made a major change in his public profile, shedding any traces of his former role as Kenya's second in command.
The former Mathira Member of Parliament updated his cover photos on social media, removing the title “Deputy President” and the image of the President William Ruto.
Eagle-eyed supporters noticed the absence of an official name and image, once prominently displayed on his platforms, that associated him with his office and his role in Kenya Kwanza's administration.
Gachagua's biography now features a more introspective image of himself in prayer time, confronting Mount Kenya.
His biography, which once read “Deputy President of Kenya,” you have changed and now you describe him as a devoted father and husband.
Furthermore, Gachagua has removed the link to the official website of the Office of the Deputy President, which was previously used to share government policies and announcements.
Prior to these updates, X's cover photo of Gachagua captured him speaking at a campaign rally in the 2022 election season, with Ruto by his side, smiling and acknowledging the cheers of the crowd.
What did Kenyans say about Gachagua's move?
Her post struck a chord with many of her followers, who flooded the comments section with messages of support and encouragement.
However, another section of Kenyans accused the former DP of seeking sympathy by using surveillance images.

What plans does Gachagua have?
Earlier, Gachagua reflected on his life after the impeachment, expressing gratitude to his family and a desire to reconnect with nature.
As his successor Kithure Kindiki was sworn in, Gachagua shared a photo of his family on social media, sitting on the grass.
In his heartfelt post, Gachagua thanked God for his family and celebrated his return home, highlighting the joy of simple pleasures.
He shared plans for a morning walk in the scenic Hombe Forest, hoping to enjoy the beauty of Mount Kenya.
