Residents of Karatina in Mathira constituency expressed dissatisfaction after learning that the High Court lifted the orders that prevented the swearing in of Professor Kithure Kindiki as the new Deputy President.

Which judges removed the orders that prevented the oath of Kindiki?

The ousted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and others who brought the case asked the panel of three judges to uphold the orders to stop the swearing in of Kithure Kindiki as the new Deputy President.

However, a three-judge panel, comprising Justices Antony Mrima, Eric Ogola, and Freda Mugambi, lifted the order issued by the court of Kerugoya.

This development is a big blow to Gachagua, given that now Kindiki will be sworn in as the new Deputy President.

According to a mother who was selling Karatina in the market, the residents elected President William Ruto and Gachagua together and they do not understand why the latter is leaving alone.

How did the residents of Mathira respond to the decision of the High Court?

“We are not satisfied with this decision; we want justice and we want him to go to the higher court,” he said.

“We are very offended by removing Gachagua even though he is innocent, they have only committed violence. He was defending the people of Mount Kenya and that is not tribalism,” said another woman.

What was Gachagua's message to the residents of Mathira?

Another resident said Gachagua, during the funeral service, asked them to be patient while he prepares his next step.

A resident who identified himself as Peter Kamanu said they will endure until 2027, while another man emphasized his love for the former Deputy President.

“As the youth of Painwe are disappointed by this issue; we didn't want him to leave,” said Anthony Ndirangu.

“Kindiki is the Deputy President of Ruto, not of the people Kenya; we didn't vote for him.”

“Even if the Vice President comes from your door or behind your fence, no food will cross from him to your kitchen. You will need to work harder to succeed. You will still be charged ShiSha, house tax like others. Let's stop our man's nonsense.”

“I have no problem with Kindiki, but Ruto did not treat Rigathi fairly despite all the help Gachagua gave him and the humiliation he went through during Uhuru's administration for supporting Ruto.”

“The speed at which things are going in this country, I wish the service to the people would be at that speed or at least half of it…..weeeh…but it's only Kenya.”
