Kimilili constituency is mourning the death of their former member of parliament, Suleiman Murunga.
Murunga was the Member of Parliament for Kimilili from 2013 to 2017 under the Ford Party Kenya.
How did Murunga meet his death?
Murunga died on Wednesday, October 30, while receiving treatment at a hospital in the city.
Various national leaders including the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang'ula who worked closely with him in the Ford Kenya Association have come out on social media to mourn his death.
Wetang'ula said that during Murunga's five years as a Member of Parliament, his commitment to the people he served was demonstrated.
“As a member of Ford Kenya, he not only represented his constituents with integrity but also played a major role as the party's election director, contributing significantly to the political situation of our nation. Rest in peace Hon. Suleiman Murunga. You will be remembered,” Wetangu'la's message read in part.
He also offered his condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.
Murunga's successor, the current Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa, also expressed his sadness when he heard about Murunga's death.
“With a heavy heart, I would like to offer my condolences to the residents of Kimilili for the passing of our former Member of Parliament Mr. Suleiman Kasuti Murunga. My condolences go out to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace. Eternal peace,” said his statement.

Murunga's death comes just a few weeks after the death of former Bomachoge Chache Member of Parliament Simon Ogari.

The two-time ODM MP died at his home in Karen, Nairobiaround 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10.
