Nelson Havi Warns Friendship Between Ruto and Raila Can Destroy Kenya's Democracy: “It's Dangerous”

Why is Havi criticizing the pact between Ruto and Raila?

According to Havi, the Ruto-Raila coalition is blurring the lines between the opposition and the government, undermining the democratic structure of Kenya and the possibility of affecting national unity.

The lawyer warned that, if left unchecked, the union could pose a serious threat to the nation's political stability.

“These two people have decided to cross a horse and a donkey, it is the end of a generation, it is wrong, this procedure cannot be explained because we do not even have documents, it will not be entertained even in court. of law or even in the village council. What you have done is that you have made clear the difference between the opposition and the government,” he demanded.

Havi contrasted this alliance with previous collaborations between the retired president Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila, which he described as a joint effort to pull in one direction for the benefit of the country.

He also noted concerns about the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua as deputy president, which he believes could isolate Gachagua's political base and increase division.

“The result is that we will not have unity because you cannot create unity by removing the barrier associated with Rigathi Gachagua and inserting the barrier associated with Raila. It's that simple and it's going to be dangerous,” Havi explained.

Why did Rigathi Gachagua go to court?

Previously, Havi said that Gachagua's decision to go to court after his removal was not about getting the position of deputy president.

Instead, he claimed the former Mathira MP aimed to protest the way his removal was handled.

Havi added that Gachagua will step down from power if the court annuls his removal or takes the case to the Supreme Court.
