On Friday, October 25, Governor Wamatangi launched the distribution of pigs to men's groups in Mangu Ward, Gatundu North Sub-County.

The plan, which is an important part of his campaign manifesto, aims to build economic independence through agriculture and eventually reach all six wards.

According to the county boss, each selected group received up to 10 pigs and a supply of fodder as seed capital.

He assured the residents that, beyond the initial distribution, the county government will provide extension services, training, and market integration support to ensure the success.

The program is part of a larger program that has also seen the distribution of improved local chicks to women across Kiambu.

“Through this project, we aim to involve men and young people in pig farming which, if properly maintained, has the ability to raise our citizens economically, this distribution of pigs is part of our strategy to empower the people at the grassroots level, which my leadership has also seen as providing support. improved local chicks for women across Kiambu,” he said.
