Nairobi: 2 KDF Officers Arrested In Relation To Brutal Killing Of UoN Student

The Criminal Investigation Department has reported the arrest of two Defense Force officers Kenya (KDF).

The two officers identified as Joseph Ngera Kamau and Fred Mathenge Kanja were arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a University student. Nairobi Mercy Rufani Kwamboka aged 26.

“The suspects, Joseph Ngera Kamau and Fred Mathenge Kanja, Kenyan Army officers stationed in Embakasi, were the last people known to have had contact with Mercy. They were arrested after her body was found dumped in the Mwiki area along the Eastern Road,” Statement of DCI it read in part.

How was Mercy Kwamboka killed?

According to information from the DCI, investigators discovered that Kamu allegedly took Kwamboka from his home in his Mazda car the night he disappeared.

The investigative unit said they drove to Kamau's home in Komarock. However, after arriving, a misunderstanding arose, leading to an argument where Kamau allegedly assaulted Kwamboka, resulting in his death.

“While in the parking area, a misunderstanding occurred, leading to a confrontation where Kamau attacked Mercy, resulting in her death. Kamau then called his assistant, Kanja, to help him dispose of the body.” The DCI statement said more.

The DCI said that they searched for the suspects in Komarock and Tononoka areas following professional instructions.

The two are currently in custody at the Police Station Kasarani.

When was Kwamboka reported missing?

DCI reported that investigations showed Kwamboka was last seen at his parents' home in Pipeline, Embakasi, on September 28.

Kwamboka is said to have left their home to answer a mysterious phone call and was never seen alive again.

The detective unit said that the search for him turned into a tragic saga, leading to the discovery of his lifeless body.

Kwamboka's body was discovered dumped in Mwiki along the East Road. He was wearing only his underwear.

Beside her, a black blouse, a blanket and a mobile phone were found.
