Kenya drop four places on FIFA rankings after Harambee Stars’ abysmal outing in October

Kenya’s Harambee Stars dropped in the latest FIFA rankings following defeats in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, while Morocco remains the top-ranked African nation.

Kenya’s Harambee Stars have fallen four places on the latest FIFA Coca Cola world rankings released on Thursday, for the month of October.

Stars dropped from position 102 to 106 after losing to Cameroon 4-1 and 1-0 in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Yaounde and Uganda.

In the latest FIFA ranking, Morocco, who were semi-finalists in the 2022 World Cup, are the highest-ranked African nation in position 13 after moving up one spot up.


Kenyan international Timothy Ouma was among the standout performers as his club IF Elfsborg narrowly lost to Turkish giants Galatasaray in a Europa League clash.


Former African champions Senegal, who were previously ranked higher, dropped to 20th place while Egypt move to position 30th and third in Africa.

Ivory Coast, the current African champions, dropped seven places to position 40th globally and sixth in Africa.

The status quo remains for the top three teams with Argentina, France and Belgium occupying the first three positions. They are followed by Brazil in fourth and England in fifth place.

The FIFA world ranking is determined using the Elo Model which is a method that adds or subtracts points for matches to or from a team’s existing point total.
