Rigathi Gachagua is required to present himself to the DCI for questioning regarding the Allegation of Murder

The Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has summoned Rigathi Gachagua regarding the allegations made by the ousted deputy president about the allegations of wanting to kill him.

Gachagua, speaking on Sunday after being discharged from Karen Hospital in the city Nairobi was questioned on Thursday when the Senators were voting to impeach him, he claimed there were two attempts to kill him before the move to remove him from office.

“I don't feel safe. On August 30, secret police officers in the city Poisonous they entered my room and one of them tried to poison my food but we found out and managed to escape. I should have been poisoned,” he told a press conference.

“On September 3 in Nyeri, officers of the NIS (National Intelligence Service) came to Nyeri and tried to poison my food and the elders of Kikuyu. I reported the matter to the NIS and asked the officers assigned to my office to leave. After the attempts to kill me failed, this motion to indict me was initiated.”

In Monday's letter, DCI it said “Severe claims coming from a person of status [Gachagua] cannot be taken lightly.”

The investigative agency told the sacked DP to report to Nairobi headquarters on Tuesday to record a statement for a “quick and thorough” investigation into the matter.

“We understand the sensitivity of the allegations and we assure you that this issue will be dealt with due seriousness. Your statement is an important part of our investigation,” DCI said.

During a press conference, Gachagua accused President William Ruto of betrayal, saying he does not know the Head of State “he can be cruel.”

He added that he was surprised by how someone who “he helped him become President … he believed” he could turn on her.

“If anything happens to me or my family, President Ruto must be held accountable,” he said.

Ruto has not said anything about the removal of Gachagua since his motion was made and he has not addressed the claims of the Deputy President who was sacked on Sunday.

The President on Friday appointed Internal Security Minister Kithure Kindiki as his next deputy.

However, Kindiki has not yet come into power due to court orders preventing his swearing in pending the hearing and decision of the cases against his impeachment.
